refreshed, and full speed ahead
so everything good is happenin right now. yesterday i participated in the finals of this big ole song contest at the huge Strathmore mansion/concert hall at the top of the city and it had narrowed down to 5 really talented acts, and we each played 2 songs and the panel of judges put their virtual plastic crown on me, so i got to that night play in the huge hall with guy clark, loudon wainwright III and michael penn. but they tell you to remember these things, and it was gone in such a flash that i half don't even know if i experienced it. it's like sometimes you just forget to solidify the memory or really take note of the living. i guess i'll always be learning that one.
I am also hired as an artist in residency at the Strathmore, which means i'll be giving sponsored performances there with much radio and paper press in on it all, and i'll be involved in lots of workshops and musicommunity-oriented things throughout the year. it is a big thing. i was interviewed and chosen from a bunch of folks, and i feel like i should sit down to more than a frozen dinner. maybe i should get rims.
and the other goodness is what you can see- the new website which has been diligently in the works is finally up and functioning, so i am again in the race to modernity. and it's simple, very functional, and has a lotta meat. dig your knives in.
it has felt like summer bc the past 3 weekends have been 1)new york and philly 2)cool 6 string cafe gig w/josh n eliot and jordan lake goodness in the raliegh durham chapel hill triangle and 3)the strathmore big shtuff.
i am halfway through recording my new album, and i am really excited of that. i'll give updates as they come. now that i feel like people are visiting here i will definitely write as bunches as i can in these pages. so take good care, take hot showers and say hi sometime eh?
